Ministerial Transition
Reverend Brigitta is serving as our interim minister for the 2024 – 2025 church year. She will depart in July of 2025, and a new interim minister will join us in August.
The board has selected an interim search team to help us to find our next minister. The team includes Chris H, Janelle D, Mariana A-T, Melissa A. and Steve W.
All UUA congregations who are seeking an interim minister follow the same process.
Here is the timeline:
Prior to April 18 – The team is creating our congregational record, and gathering supplementary materials to share with potential candidates. If you have input you would like to share to help guide our search process, this is the best time to do so.
April 18 – The search team will submit an extensive packet of information about Northlake to the UUA for interim minister candidates to review.
May 6 – The search team is notified about ministerial candidates who wish to be considered for our position. We will have 0 to 6 candidates to evaluate (in our last interim search we had 6 candidates)
May 7 to 18 – An intensive period of reviewing applicants’s resumes, interviewing candidates, checking references, and doing research calls with UUA regional staff.
May 19 – Our search team sends in our list of top choices to the UUA, ministerial candidates also submit their top choices.
May 20 to 22 – The UUA Transitions Team finds the best matches, then notifies all churches and candidates.
May 22 – We make an offer, then complete final negotiations within approximately a week, including time for a background check.
June 30: Rev. Brigitta’s last day in the Northlake pulpit.
July 17: Rev. Brigitta’s last day at Northlake.
August 1: Our new interim minister starts at Northlake. Our current expectation is that they will be with us for two to three years.
If you have questions about the process, you are welcome to ask any member of the search team. However, it’s important to know that all information about candidates is completely confidential. We can not tell you who has applied for the position.
