The June Ministerial Musings
The church year is almost over! Summer is coming (and hopefully the sun will stick around for more than a day!) I’m looking back over the year with much gratitude and looking ahead to next year with much anticipation. Northlake is such a great place to be.
As we say good-bye to Art Kuller, our long-serving Music Director, we wish him well. He served Northlake expertly and led the choir to fantastic heights. He instigated the UU Music Festival, wrote and arranged many musical scores, and led the choir and challenged them to tackle difficult pieces. He directed and arranged for instrumentation on Music Sundays and rumor has it (it happened before I came to Northlake) that he was involved in some very creative theatrical presentations. We will miss him!
This year we said goodbye to Jenny Lina and welcomed Minnette Lesser into the Interim Director of Religious Education position. On June 1st, we will formally present our brand new ¾-time (did you hear that? ¾ time!) Director of Lifespan Religious Education (you’ll have to be at church on the 1st to find out who it is!)
With all the excitement in RE and music, the Worship team is stepping up and proposing a more integrated and collaborative process. We want YOU to help us reboot Sunday services! Save the date for an all-day Worship Design Workshop on Saturday, August 23rd. We will plan ahead six months at a time. We need…
· HGTV addicts (like me) for a visuals team
· people who top 1000+ songs on their iPods or phones to help with music ideas
· voracious readers to help with verbal arts
· “techies” and computer geeks (including youth and young adults) for media help
· perpetual class clowns and community theater junkies for dramatic arts
Don’t see your skills listed above? Come anyway! Your presence and your ideas will help us get next year launched.
P.S. Remember to collect water on your summer travels. Interesting water pictures are good too!
