KIN Alternative Giving Fair: Where Your Gift Gives Twice!

Kirkland Interfaith Network (KIN) is pleased to invite you to its annual Alternative Giving Fair, Saturday, November 15 from 10am to 4pm, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 105 State Street, Kirkland.

What's so special about the KIN Alternative Giving Fair?
It’s a holiday fair where the gifts you buy provide a better life for someone who needs it, both here and abroad. It’s a fair where you can do some holiday shopping and feel good about doing it.

Sounds great, how does it work?
At the fair, you will find tables “selling” gift items, just like you would at a traditional holiday fair, except that that gift item might be a flock of chicks for a family in Bolivia (through Heifer Project International), a window for a unit of affordable housing (through Habitat for Humanity) or a blanket to warm a refugee in a camp (through Church World Service). For each item you purchase, you receive a gift card with an insert describing your gift, which you can give to the person you are honoring in this way. To make the fair more fun there are also entertainment and refreshments, just like you would find at any holiday fair.

But I'm not sure my friends and family will think this is a “real” gift…
You’ll be surprised how many people will be excited and pleased by this idea, but at the KIN Alternative Giving Fair you will also find a large selection of items imported from developing nations. There will be holiday greeting cards available for purchase also. And you will know that the items you have purchased will benefit someone who needs a helping hand.

What is KIN?
KIN is the Kirkland Interfaith Network, a group of 9 faith communities, including ours, who work together on projects to benefit the poor and hungry, here and abroad.

When is it again?
Saturday, November 15 from 10am to 4pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church. See you at the fair!
